Qard-e-Hasana as an Alternative to Interest

Qard-e-Hasana as an Alternative to Interest

Date: March 25, 2026

In many communities, the search for an alternative to interest-based financial systems often feels overwhelming. Even when people understand the harmful effects of interest, real-life needs leave them with little choice. Recognizing this challenge, Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation has introduced a compassionate and impactful initiative called “Qard-e-Hasana.” In the Islamic perspective, Qard-e-Hasana refers to a benevolent loan given without any interest, profit, or additional charge, reflecting a deep sense of empathy and social responsibility. Through this initiative, underprivileged individuals are not only given financial assistance but also empowered to become self-reliant. By providing assets such as rickshaws, vans, sewing machines, livestock, and profession-specific tools, the program helps people build sustainable livelihoods and restore dignity in their daily lives.

What truly sets this initiative apart is its commitment to complete transparency and ethical integrity, no interest is charged, and even administrative costs are not passed on to the beneficiaries, in line with Shariah principles. Ultimately, Qard-e-Hasana is more than just a financial service; it is a meaningful effort to uplift communities, foster independence, and build a future grounded in trust, compassion, and hope.
