Free Date Distribution Program at Orphanages
The holy month of Ramadan is a time for self-purification, sacrifice, and humanitarian compassion. It offers a unique opportunity to stand beside the needy and helpless through worship and charitable giving. In Islam, there is a special emphasis on caring for orphans, as they are among the most vulnerable and deserving members of society. With this understanding, the Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation, with funding from North American Humanitarian Aid and Relief (NAHAR), has launched a Free Date Distribution Program in orphanages across the country.
Dates are not just a food item; they are a traditional and Sunnah-prescribed means of breaking the fast during Ramadan. Rich in energy, healthy, and nutritious, dates are highly beneficial for those observing the fast. However, many orphanages lack access to essential nutritious food, which can be a hardship for fasting children. Through this project, we aim to alleviate that difficulty, so orphaned children can experience the full spirit and joy of Ramadan.
Under this initiative, orphanages can apply by filling out a form available on our website. The application process is simple and transparent, requiring the name and location of the orphanage, the number of children, and a recent photo. After verification, selected orphanages will receive an adequate supply of dates.
The core goal of this project is to bring smiles to the faces of orphans—an expression of our collective responsibility and love toward them. The Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation has always been committed to humanitarian welfare, and this special Ramadan program is a reflection of that promise. We hope this noble initiative will inspire positive change in society and encourage those who are able to stand by orphans and the underprivileged with even greater dedication.
