Qard-e-Hasana Alternative to Interest

Qard-e-Hasana Alternative to Interest

Date: Aug. 2, 2025

While many of us are aware of the devastating consequences of interest (Riba), the noble Islamic alternative known as “Qard-e-Hasana” (interest-free loan) is still rarely implemented in society. Yet, the Holy Qur'an itself invites believers to give Qard-e-Hasana, a loan to Allah, which comes with immense divine reward.

To bring this sacred practice to life, the Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation has launched a fully interest-free loan program named “Qard-e-Hasana.” In this system, there is no interest, profit, or extra charge imposed on beneficiaries. Even operational costs cannot be recovered from the recipient, as per the guidance of the Foundation’s Shariah Board.

Through this initiative, the Foundation aims to empower underprivileged individuals by providing essential tools and assets without any financial burden. These include:

  • Bicycles

  • Rickshaws/Vans

  • Sewing Machines

  • Livestock

  • Occupation-specific equipment

Gradually, the program will be expanded, In Sha Allah, to include critical areas such as healthcare, education, and small businesses.

To Apply for Qard-e-Hasana:

  1. Fill out the designated application form

  2. Submit required documents, including a check from a conventional bank and a guarantor

  3. Commit to fully leave all interest-based transactions (or provide a sincere pledge to transition away)

For applications and more details, please contact our Foundation office in Ghulam Ali Nazir Para, Chattogram.
