A Deeply Needed Initiative

We have a long-held dream, and while some may dismiss it as madness, it addresses a genuine, painful need: Washing the dirty blankets and unhygienic clothes of the people living on the streets!

As a field worker, I’ve seen firsthand that these individuals simply cannot afford a laundry service. Getting a single blanket washed can cost between 300 to 400 Taka! They also lack the basic resources, sufficient water, and washing powder to wash these items themselves.

Every year during winter, we distribute warm clothing and blankets to the poor and distressed. But many recipients use these clothes and blankets for years without ever washing them. This often leads to skin diseases and other health problems.

Alhamdulillah! For the very first time in our country's history, the Al-Haj Shamsul Hoque Foundation has taken a wonderful initiative to wash the clothes and blankets we distribute!

The ASH Foundation's Research & Development Team has created a mobile washing machine.

Using this non-electric, hand-operated machine, we will begin washing the clothes of the poor, distressed, and helpless people tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:00 AM, Insha’Allah. Location: Sholashahar Railway Station, Chattogram. We believe this small act of washing can make a huge difference in their health and dignity.
