Flood Rehabilitation Project 2026

Since the onset of the devastating floods in Southern Chattogram, Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation (ASH Foundation) has been working tirelessly to support affected communities in remote and isolated areas. Beyond providing emergency relief, the Foundation has undertaken a practical and long-term rehabilitation initiative aimed at helping flood-affected families rebuild their lives.

From the very first day of the disaster, ASH Foundation's volunteer teams traveled by boat to reach inaccessible communities, delivering emergency food assistance directly to households. As part of its ongoing humanitarian response, the Foundation has already distributed approximately 40 metric tons of food supplies to 4,000 flood-affected families.

During these relief operations, Foundation representatives witnessed firsthand the severe devastation caused by the floods. Countless families had lost their homes and were forced to live in the open under extremely difficult conditions. This reality inspired the Foundation to move beyond emergency assistance and launch a sustainable rehabilitation program.

With this vision, the Foundation officially inaugurated its 100 House Construction Project on 18^th July (Saturday) at Pekua Upazila Field. The initiative aims to provide safe and permanent housing for families who lost their homes during the floods.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Honorable Home Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Salahuddin Ahmed, as the Chief Guest. Commending the Foundation's humanitarian efforts, he stated:

"Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation has set a remarkable example of humanity. Alongside the government's efforts, this noble initiative will play a transformative role in rehabilitating flood victims, empowering affected families, and building a more sustainable society."

During the inauguration, 20 homeless families from Chakaria and Pekua Upazilas received complete sets of construction materials required to build their new homes.

In addition to construction materials, each beneficiary family was provided with essential household items, including new beds, bedding, mosquito nets, pillows, buckets, cooking pots, mugs, floor mats, and other daily necessities, enabling them to restart their lives with dignity and security.

The event was chaired by Engr. Muhammad Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation. Abu Sufian, Member of Parliament for Chattogram-9, attended as the Special Guest. The ceremony was also attended by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), senior government officials, and other distinguished local representatives.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Engr. Muhammad Nasir Uddin said, "Our goal is not simply to distribute relief, but to ensure the permanent rehabilitation of flood-affected families. With the support of compassionate individuals and organizations, we can build even more homes for those who have lost everything."

He further expressed hope that, with collective support, the Foundation would be able to expand the project beyond the initial target of 100 houses, enabling more homeless families to secure safe, permanent shelter.

Alhaj Shamsul Hoque Foundation firmly believes that effective disaster response extends beyond emergency relief—it requires creating opportunities for affected people to restore their lives with dignity. Guided by this belief, the Foundation has complemented its relief efforts with sustainable rehabilitation, safe housing, and comprehensive household support.

Looking ahead, the Foundation remains committed to standing beside disaster-affected communities across Bangladesh by continuing its humanitarian assistance and sustainable rehabilitation initiatives wherever and whenever needed.
