Sylhet project presented at UN exhibition in Egypt

The Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation of Bangladesh (Ash) presented the project titled 'World's First Floating Water Purification and Free Distribution' at the World Urban Forum held under the initiative of the United Nations in New Cairo, the new capital of Egypt.

Last Wednesday, the Foundation's Chairman Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin presented the project titled 'World's First Floating Water Purification and Free Distribution' installed on a boat in the Haor area of ​​Gowain Ghat in Sylhet among the world leaders participating in the 12th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12).

About 37,000 people from various organizations and state levels from 182 countries of the world, including Bangladesh, participated in this session held from November 4 to 8 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo under the initiative of the United Nations.

At a stage of getting acquainted with the important officials of different countries present at the session, Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation Chairman Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin invited them to come to Bangladesh as usual, saying, ‘Please welcome to Bangladesh. We will show you a beautiful Bangladesh’.

Although the inaugural session of the World Urban Forum (WUF) has been held in different countries of the world since its inaugural session in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002, this is the 12th session being held in another African country, Egypt for the first time.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director Anna Claudia, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Finance Minister Ahmed Kawchouk, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbini and Bangladesh Ambassador Samina Naz, along with ambassadors and diplomats of different countries in Egypt.
